I have always been a creative person; I see it as a way of expressing who I am, when studying this subject for the past couple of years I have extended my knowledge of the fashion industry and my love of it has grown. I still have a lot more to learn and don’t want to give up my ambition which has become a huge part of me but I feel that this course will help to build the pathway to my future. I am not afraid to take risks and this can be seen in the work I have submitted ranging from fashion to art.

The first set of images show the ‘Distortion’ project in which I researched into this word and produced my own concept of manipulating the body. I came up with the idea of ‘Perfection’ and the impact society has on it. Taking this concept to the extreme and looking at Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein I produced an outcome of a distorted, hand stitched garment.
The next sets of images are the ‘Vessel’ project, looking at an underwater theme I had chosen I experimented with different materials influenced by my theme as well as artists and designers. I chose this theme as it is not something which is seen to the everyday eye and I felt that there are a lot of unusual patterns and shapes which I translated into a 3D piece.
I have also included images from a paper project, looking into the manipulation of paper I was opened up to many new artists and designers. Refining the samples I had made I was inspired by Art Nouveau and produced an outcome of a lace detail piece.
The drawings in this work show my observational skills looking at both organic and manmade objects. I now see drawing as recording a visual response, adding pattern to paper even if it is an ordinary object both literally and decoratively.
